Hong Kong Prize is a highly prestigious literary contest that is open to writers around the world. Finalists receive a monetary award, plaque at an awards ceremony, and other perks; but, it is not for the faint of heart – the competition is fierce and there are strict rules to follow in order to have a chance at winning the grand prize. It is important that potential participants understand the rules before entering, in order to avoid any issues down the road.

The Hong Kong Prize was established to honor people who have accomplished incredible things in their lives, making an impactful statement of excellence about life in Hong Kong and Asia. Unlike most awards, the HK Prize isn’t about money or fame; it’s about shining a spotlight on everyday heroes who support society at large in their own unique way. For example, the spirit award went to a brain cancer survivor who founded an agency that helps students with mental health issues. Another example is a cha chaan teng owner who supports disadvantaged groups in her community by running a food bank to help those in need. The innovation award was given to Florence Chan Hiu-ling, co-founder of a start-up that developed a navigation belt for the visually impaired. And, the perseverance award was given to Michael Chan Sheung-yee, who survived brain cancer in infancy and worked tirelessly to set up a non-profit organisation that supports migrant youth.

In addition to honoring outstanding individuals, the HK Prize also provides young scientists with the opportunity to learn about the unique culture and history of Hong Kong through its prize-winning scientific research. It is an excellent way to showcase the city’s global-class science and technology, as well as its contribution to humanity. The prize is an excellent platform to further promote Hong Kong’s role as a regional centre of scientific research, and it is one of Asia’s premier prizes.

The HK Prize is an annual merit-based scholarship award sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. The non-governmental prize is open to any individual or team that has contributed significantly to the advancement of science and technology in Hong Kong, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics, life and health, new materials and new energy, advanced manufacturing, and FinTech. It aims to encourage more young people to devote themselves to the field of scientific research and development, while at the same time encouraging Hong Kong’s youth to develop a global perspective. Each year, a total of 10 awards will be given out. The application period will open on March 1 for people in Southeast Asia, mainland China and the rest of the world. The finalists will be selected from those who submit their applications before May 1. The winners will receive tickets to fly to Hong Kong for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Applicants can find more information on the Hong Kong Prize website. You can also watch a video clip to find out more about the prize.
