Hong Kong’s many outdoor and indoor swimming pools offer an enjoyable way to beat the heat, burn calories and meet other local swimmers. In addition to offering great views of the city’s landscape, many of the hongkong pools offer high-speed internet access, deckchairs, cocktails and other snacks, and even a Jacuzzi.
Some public pools have a minimum age for children, but most are open to anyone who pays the HK$5 entrance fee (refundable) and signs a waiver. Those who want to swim laps should bring a poolside towel, goggles and a padlock for their locker. Swimmers should also be aware that some public pools may close for cleaning if there are traces of vomit or feces in the water. Many hotels in the city have rooftop pools. The pool at Hotel ICON is especially popular, as it offers fantastic views over Hong Kongs harbor and the Kowloon skyline. In addition to a large rooftop infinity pool, the hotel offers another pool with smaller dimensions for kids and a Jacuzzi. If lounging by the pool isn’t your thing, the hotel has a 24/7 fitness area with a variety of machines and weights.
The swanky Harbour Grand Kowloon has its own unique pool, located up on the 21st floor. The glass-walled rooftop pool offers beautiful views of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong skyline. Guests of the hotel can use the pool for free, while HP Club members can access it even earlier in the day.
There are also a number of public pools in the city, including the renowned Pao Yue Kong Swimming Complex in Wong Chuk Hang. This huge complex has a wide range of pools, from lap pools to diving pools.
If you are moving to Hong Kong with your family, swimming pool facilities may be an important consideration. Larger developments with several towers typically have at least a 50-metre outdoor pool and a smaller indoor pool. Smaller single-tower developments might have only a small outdoor pool – too short for laps, but still a fun place for the children to splash around and burn off energy.
