Roullete (also known as Roulette) is a casino game of chance based on the spinning of a numbered wheel. Players place bets on individual numbers, various groupings of numbers, the color red or black, whether the number is odd or even, and other characteristics such as high or low. Bets are placed by putting chips on a special betting mat. The dealer then spins the wheel and throws a ball into it. The ball bounces around the wheel and eventually settles in one of the pockets marked with a specific number. If the player made a bet on that number, they win.

The wheel consists of a solid wooden disk slightly convex in shape and around which are metal partitions, called separators or frets, which form thirty-six compartments alternating red and black and numbered nonconsecutively from 1 to 36. On European-style wheels a 37th compartment, painted green, carries the symbol 0 and on American tables there are two extra green compartments numbered 00.

Before the wheel is spun, players put their bets on a special betting mat and the dealer will give them coloured roulette chips of a value equal to the amount they have given the table. Between spins, the dealers will collect the bets and replace them with new ones.

The Dozens Bet (called Douzaine in French) is a wager that the winning number will be in either the first or second dozen on the layout and if either of them wins, it pays 2-1. Odd or Even Bet (called impair et pair in French) is a wager that the number will be in the first or last 18 on the layout and if neither of these wins, it pays 1-1.
